FOUCAULT, SUJEITO, VERDADE E EDUCAÇÃO: O CUIDADO DE SI COMO EXERCÍCIO DE LIBERDADE

Abstract

Michel Foucault has engaged himself to study the subject and truth. For a task of this magnitude, he has used archeology, genealogy and ethics, producing a work of great value to the human sciences. This work detaches because it relates knowledge, power and self-care to processes of subjectivity and constitution of truth and the subject. It has also covered transversely philosophy, history, medicine, biology, economics, politics, legal forms, humanities, thus overlaying virtually all fields of knowledge. This is a study about the subject, the subjectivity, forms of subjectivity, of subjection and its repercussions on education of individuals. Is there a real subject incarnated in man, who is the subject in late Foucault's texts? That is the question that guides this research and invite to a dive, a deep immersion in the works of this author. By the comprehension and interpretation of texts studied, it sought to demonstrate the complexity of this important issue to education, society and culture, and ultimately to the man who lives, works and speaks. Foucault discusses the following questions: what means to the thought to have a history; what is to the subject to have a truth linked to knowledge and power, which cannot deny because he needs them; what is to the man to recognize himself as a man of desire, full, who becomes fragmented by his passions, surrenders and separates himself completely by love and through his own anxieties demonstrates that, despite the finiteness and the inexorable totalities of his existence, still seeks to know what he, as man, is. This question that arises as a result of this study, also provides answers that change, transform, as truth itself and the own notion of the subject, due to circumstances inscribed in history.
