JOVENS, VIOLÊNCIA E A CULTURA DA PAZ NO CONTEXTO ESCOLAR

Abstract

This dissertation is part of the Education, Society and Culture Research Line and aims to analyze and understand the perception of young people about the school environment and programs for the culture of peace. The young people studied are from the grassroots, Institute of Education of Goiás (IEG), of the afternoon shift and with age group between 14 and 20 years, boys and girls, residents in Goiânia and neighboring municipalities. In order to understand this phenomenon, we have used scholars such as Sposito (2009), Michaud (1989), Zaluar (2004), Abramovay (2005) and Misse (2008) and to obtain a theoretical background on youth (1990), Bonnewitz (2003), Dayrell (2007), Peralva (1997), and Melucci (1990). The proposal of this work was qualitative and, through the questionnaires and interviews, it was possible to apprehend young people's perception of violence in school contexts and the culture of peace, as well as to increase knowledge about youth and violence. The results showed that the phenomenon of violence exists in the school context, but in relation to the Culture of Peace in school, it was noticed that young people are unaware of such projects, although in the Political Project Pedagogical (PPP) prevention and coping with bullying. As for the presence of the Military Police Battalion in the Institute, the young people understand that it is necessary, but it brings embarrassment and they feel watched. The results point out the need to establish mechanisms with the students, in the effective implementation of projects for the construction of a culture of peace based on the autonomy of the subject, and thus respecting their limits.
