A Congada da Vila João Vaz em Goiânia (GO): Memória e Tradição

Abstract

1097/5000 This research had as a general objective to identify the cultural and identity references of Congadeiros of Vila João Vaz (CVJV) through the memory and the traditions that are in the collective practice of the Congada, as well as to understand how such identity references can contribute to legitimize the culture Afro-Goiana. The Congada is already in the third generation and the dedication and faith of the Congadeiros, perceptible during the festivities, demonstrate that the party has become a cultural patrimony. The way in which they relate to each other and to this cultural manifestation has made it grow each year. This research is linked to the research line Culture and Symbolic Systems, especially in what refers to cultural studies that involve the construction of historical memory. In this perspective, the line of research adopted allows us to approach a dynamic conception of history, culture and tradition as legitimating an Afro-religious identity that is part of the cultural heritage, the Congada, preserving the festive memory of this manifestation of popular religiosity.
