Educação e os direitos humanos em tempos de barbarização pela indústria cultural: impasses e perspectivas

Abstract

This bibliographic research, linked to the Education, Society and Culture Research Line of the Postgraduate Program in Education at PUC Goiás, has as main theoretical references authors of the Critical Theory of Society, in particular, Adorno and Horkheimer (1985 ) and also those dealing with Human Rights such as, for example, Hunt (2009) and Lafer (1988), as well as authors who discuss a general trajectory in Education, such as Rousseau (1979), Jaeger (1994), Luzuriaga ( 1983), among others that supported the research. This is an investigation that has as general objective to understand, from a dialectical perspective and through the procedures of reading, records and interpretation of texts objects of study, human rights and education in the light of the aforementioned Theory. Thus, it begins with the questioning about the difficulties that individuals go through with regard to education and the exercise of human rights in the face of the power of the Cultural Industry/capitalism today. For this, this investigation is developed in three chapters that are interrelated. The first seeks to understand the paths that led to the problematization expressed here, thus, the beginning shows a contextualization about neoliberalism, from a historical and not chronological approach. Then, the research takes up the history of human rights and education in a chronological bias. The second deals with the Critical Theory of Society and the Cultural Industry seeking to understand the power of the Cultural Industry today over modern societies and their impacts. The third addresses part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in a brief examination, with regard to the right to education, as well as the Cultural Industry's relations with human rights and their affect on society in general. In addition, discusses education and human rights in the face of the barbarization processes imposed on society by the Capitalist Industry. It concludes by stating that, although the right to education has as one of its foundations the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (2009), not everyone has had access to or enjoyed quality education that, in fact, allows them to achieve emancipation
