Abstract

n this paper we intend to observe how the legacy of Edgar Allan Poe and his peculiar world vision affects the music world as well, especially in rock'n'roll, by revisiting and recreating it, that perpetuates in this iconic presence. Poe introduce us to his style, a world of dark figures, which involves the supernatural, the grotesque, the fantastic, and the mystery, and how he influences the entire artistic world, and its sides. In music, his marks are found, especially in rock, where we can see a whole amount of bands and artists that drink from his mystery and horror, making almost like a way of living out of it. In its own way, rock is already an atmosphere of creation, an environment of creativity capable of several nuances and various different styles within it. A style of music that was born in the 1950, resulting of the mixtures of Blues, Country and Jazz. Through it, we can see many other styles that were born from it, like: Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, etc. In this paper, we will investigate the relations between literature and music established by the world of literature raised by Edgar Allan Poe, and the creations in the world of the music, found in the rock and its subgenres, led by theoretical studies centralized in the translation by recreation
