A situação da mulher na ficção sob a perspectiva teórica de Simone de Beauvoir

Abstract

This dissertation addresses the situation of women in literary works based on the theory of philosopher Simone de Beauvoir, considering that women, in literary works and in life, have been subject to male dominance for centuries in our society. To this end, the dissertation text aims to analyze literary works with feminine themes - whose characters represent situations in which women are subjected, sometimes by structural/explicit violence, sometimes by symbolic violence - as well as showing the strength of the systematic construction of patriarchy and its consequences for the limitations of women's human formation and, in view of this, reference, mainly, the theory of Simone de Beauvoir - who profoundly describes women as the Other, in her work The Second Sex. In fact, works were chosen in which Western women appear, starting from different eras, and bringing patriarchal culture from the Ancient World, through the Middle Ages, Feudalism, Modern Age - up to Hypermodernity - when the challenges are already under a struggle continuous to guarantee a valued space and the recognition of immanence. The approach used in this research is phenomenological hermeneutics, as the proposal is the interpretation and social discussion of the issue of women and, at the same time, presenting how the artistic phenomenon intertwines with the reality experienced by women in the space they live in on a daily basis. Therefore, the construction of this work occurs through three chapters that address the situation of women in both fictional and real representations. The first discusses the Historical Situation of the Existence of Women in Society; the second talks about Woman from the Perspective of Simone de Beauvoir and the third about The Contemporary Voice: Violence and Death
