As manifestações artísticas na cidade de Aparecida de Goiânia entre 1922 a 2022

Abstract

The aim of this study was to research the artistic representations and the production of artists in Aparecida de Goiânia, with an emphasis on popular cultural expressions from its founding in 1922 until its centennial in 2022. The celebration of the centennial coincided with the inauguration of the city's first Amphitheater and brought reflections on the possible lack of institutions dedicated to promoting and preserving the city's history and local arts. The research identified obstacles such as the lack of formal support and adequate infrastructure, affecting artistic production in various periods. The study used action research, based on primary sources obtained from the Municipal Department of Culture, through observations, documentary research, bibliographical analysis, and interviews with artists and figures from Aparecida. Based on the works of Freud de Melo (2002) and Nilda Simone Siqueira (2014), the result of the study was a narrative of the history of artistic representations in this municipality, consolidated through the memories provided by those involved in the research. This revealed the negligence of public authorities at many times but also the cultural revival in the various artistic languages developed in the last two decades of its centennial. Additionally, it discusses the challenges and future prospects for the city's artistic scene
