A ação formativa e a participação social de jovens universitários latino-americanos que integram a Comunidad Internacional de Estudiantes Evangélicos

Abstract

This work is linked to the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Education of the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás in the line of research: Education, Society and Culture. It has adherence to the research group "Youth and Education" registered at CNPq and is part of the research project entitled: "Cultural Diversity and Education - Youth, Political Participation, Organizations and Social Movements in the 21st Century". The general objective of the research was to investigate the formative process and the political-social participation of young university students who are currently part of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (CIEE/IFES) in Latin American. It starts with the following research problem: what are the meanings attributed by a group of young people who are part of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (CIEE/IFES) about the political, social and educational issues of the time present in their respective countries? It was theoretically and methodologically oriented by Reflexive Sociology and the General Field Theory by Pierre Bourdieu (2001a; 2005), as well as supported by the studies of Enrique Dussel (1977), Aníbal Quijano (2000) and Paulo Freire (1987) as guiding Liberative Educational Thought in Latin America. The discussions on the new forms of politicalsocial participation of youths with the new social movements were supported by the studies of Maria da Glória Gohn (1997; 2014), Sandra Oliveira (2015), Luis Groppo (2017; 2018; 2020) and Aldimar Duarte (2016; 2020). To obtain the research data, two questionnaires were applied, a focus group session, documentary / bibliographic analysis, observation of social representation in Instagram cyberspace and notes in the Diário de Campo. The research demonstrated that youth is a dynamic category capable of presenting different forms, conditions and representations, depending on the institutions to which young people are linked and based on the historical-social construction that supports it, being that in the case of the young subjects of the research the religious aspects brought specificities to the group under analysis. It is concluded that young people linked to CIEE/IFES in Latin America have a marked religious habitus that is the result of a formative action that guides their social participation in the other spheres of collective life and in the fields in which they are inserted, reordering the concept of social participation, resignifying the role of the university and shaping the reading of the reality in which they are inserted
